South Korea ke President ne apne pehle impeachment attempt ko successfully overcome kar liya hai, lekin political drama abhi bhi jaari hai.
South Korea ke opposition ne President Yoon Suk Yeol ko unke martial law ke short declaration ke liye impeach karne ka attempt kiya tha, lekin Saturday ko yeh motion fail ho gaya jab National Assembly mein iske liye kaafi lawmakers nahi aaye. Yeh failure zyada tar Yoon ke conservative party, People Power Party (PPP), ke members ke boycott ke wajah se hua. Martial law ke liye Yoon ko accountable banane ka motion required votes nahi le saka; National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik ne kaha ki vote invalid hai, kyunki total votes—195—required do-thirds majority of 200 votes ko nahi reach kar paaye.
Woo ne announce kiya, “Jo number of members ne vote diya, wo required two-thirds majority ko nahi reach kar paaye, isliye main is vote ko invalid declare karta hoon.”
Opposition parties, jo assembly mein 192 seats hold karti hain, ne impeachment motion file kiya tha, lekin PPP ke sirf teen members ne voting process mein hissa liya taaki motion fail ho sake. Jab motion ko minimum 200 votes nahi mile, tab ballot count nahi kiya gaya, aur impeachment attempt turant withdraw kar liya gaya. Agla impeachment motion 11 December ke baad hi file kiya jaa sakta hai.
Yeh South Korea mein political storm ko aur badha dega, kyunki protests Yoon ki resignation ki demand kar rahe hain. Latest polls mein yeh dikhaya gaya hai ki zyada tar South Koreans impeachment ke favor mein hain, jo political divide ko aur deepen karega.

Yeh South Korea ka pehla martial law declaration tha 40 saalon mein. Yoon ki apni party ke 18 lawmakers ne is decree ke against vote kiya tha, opposition members ke saath.
Speculation hai ki Yoon aur unki party constitutional amendment ke through apna term shorten karne ka plan bana rahe hain, taaki impeachment se bach sakein aur public anger ko calm kar sakein, saath hi apne office se jaldi exit le sakein.
