Chennai University mein ek student ke saath sexual assault ke baad DMK aur opposition ke beech garma-garmi ho gayi hai.
Tamil Nadu mein ek bada political row chal raha hai, jisme Chennai ke Anna University ki second-year engineering student ke saath sexual assault aur uske male friend ko campus par pitai karne ka case samne aaya hai. Yeh incident Monday raat ko hua tha, aur ek 37 saal ka aadmi, jo footpath par biryani bechta hai, ko arrest kiya gaya hai.
Opposition parties AIADMK aur BJP ne MK Stalin ki government ko law and order situation par target kiya hai, jabki DMK government ne is incident ko politicise karne ki koshish ko criticize kiya hai.
Tamil Nadu ke Higher Education Minister Govi Chezhian ne kaha hai ki university level par appropriate decisions liye jayenge taaki future mein aise incidents na ho.
“Guindy Engineering College ke ek student ne sexual assault ka complaint file kiya hai. Police investigation kar rahi hai. University level par aise incidents ko rokhne ke liye appropriate decisions liye jayenge,” unhone X par post kiya.
Opposition parties ko jawab dete hue minister ne kaha, “Jo log is incident ko politicise karna chahte hain, unhe yaad rakhna chahiye ki Pollachi sexual assault case mein, purani sarkar ke time par, victims ko police ke paas complaint dene mein dar tha, kyunki unpar purani rulers ka pressure tha.” “DMK government tezi se action le rahi hai. Jaldi hi culprits ko insaaf milne wala hai,” minister ne kaha.
Pehle, Assembly mein Opposition leader, AIADMK ke E Palaniswami ne is incident ko “shocking” aur “shameful” kaha. “Yeh incident 12 saal baad, Nirbhaya incident ke baad, Tamil Nadu mein ho raha hai, iska matlab hai ki Mr. Stalin ne law and order ko pichhe daal diya hai,” unhone kaha. Former CM ne kaha ki DMK government ne law and order ko is point tak pahuncha diya hai ki ab women colleges aur workplaces mein bhi safe nahi hai. “Main Mr. Stalin se appeal karta hoon ki turant culprits ko arrest karein, unhe maximum legal punishment dilwayen, aur state ke har kone mein women ki safety ke liye police ka kaam mazboot karein,” unhone kaha.
State BJP chief K Annamalai ne kaha ki Tamil Nadu ab “unlawful activities ka breeding ground” aur “criminals ka haven” ban gaya hai DMK government ke under. “Ab women ko state mein safe feel nahi hota, kyunki police opposition ko chup karane mein busy hai.
BJP Tamil Nadu ko protest call karna padta hai tabhi police action leti hai agar criminal DMK ka functionary ho. Yeh law and order ki bohot khatarnak situation hai,” unhone X par post kiya. BJP ne CM se yeh maang ki hai ki woh is incident ki zimmedari lein aur logon ko investigation ki status ke baare mein address karein.
Police ke mutabik, student ne apni complaint mein kaha ki jab woh apne friend ke saath campus mein baat kar rahi thi, tab ek anjaane aadmi ne usse dhamki di aur sexually assault kiya. Police ne kaha ki 37 saal ka aadmi Gnanasekaran ko arrest kiya gaya hai. “Suspect ne confession kiya hai. Woh footpath par biryani shop chalata hai,” police ne kaha aur yeh bhi bataya ki woh pata laga rahe hain ki kya woh kisi aur crime mein involved tha.
Students’ Federation of India aur All India Women Welfare Federation ne campus ke bahar protest kiya. University registrar J Prakash ne kaha hai ki college authorities police ke saath cooperation kar rahi hain.
